The Kabelske is the left tributary and largest tributary of the Reide in the Saxon district of northern Saxony , as well as in the Saale district and the east of the city of Halle (Saale) in southern Saxony-Anhalt .
Its creation is dated to the Saale complex . The name of the river comes from the Slavic word Kobyla (" mare ").
The original source was on the present site of the airport Leipzig-Halle on the land of Schkeuditz . By lowering and regulating the course, today's beginning of the Kabelske is a piped inflow into a collecting basin for surface water on the western edge of the airport. It then flows to the northwest, crosses the A 9 and the new Erfurt – Leipzig / Halle line near Gröbers .
The water almost exclusively flows through the area of the unitary municipality named after it, Kabelsketal, with the localities of Beuditz , Schwoitsch , Benndorf and the districts of Naundorf and Kleinkugel in the locality of Dölbau . Finally, the Kabelske reaches the Kanena district of Halle , where it joins the Reide from the left , which in turn joins the Weisse Elster after 6.5 km at Osendorf.
