Robert Morrison (politician)

Robert "Bob" Morrison (born March 16, 1909 in Parlier , California , † July 8, 1999 in Tucson , Arizona ) was an American lawyer and politician ( Democratic Party ).

Career

Robert Morrison was born in Fresno County in 1909 . Nothing is known about his youth. He moved to Arizona before he was 30. He was living in Tucson, Pima County at the 1940 census .

In the following years he studied law . From 1947 to 1994 he practiced as a lawyer. In this context, he held the post of Pima County Attorney from 1950 to 1952 . During this time he devoted himself to fighting gambling and prostitution in Pima County. From 1954 to 1958 he served as the Attorney General of Arizona. His most significant achievement during this time was the successful conclusion of the litigation with the federal district court regarding the allocation of water from the Colorado River to Arizona for use in the Central Arizona Project , which could not be implemented without this. In 1958 he ran unsuccessfully for the post of governor of Arizona. In the later years he practiced in Tucson, Sierra Vista, and Phoenix .

Morrison died in Tucson in 1999 and was buried there in Evergreen Memorial Park . He was survived by his three sons, Robert, John and Michael, and his daughters, Arpy and Carol.
