Robert Ridgely

Robert Ridgely (born December 24, 1931 in Teaneck , New Jersey , † February 8, 1997 in Toluca Lake , California ) was an American actor and voice actor .

Life

Ridgely began his career as a nightclub entertainer in Manhattan , appearing in an off-Broadway production of The Threepenny Opera . He began his film and television career in the 1960s with guest appearances on television series such as Bronco , Surfside 6, and Underwater Adventures . In 1962 he received the role of Lt. Frank Kimbro in the ABC World War II series The Gallant Men , which was discontinued after the first season. Beginning in the 1970s, he was increasingly seen on the big screen, including in some Mel Brooks films such as The Wilde Wild West , Mel Brooks' heights and Robin Hood - heroes in tights . He also appeared in Jonathan Demmes Melvin and Howard and Philadelphia .

In addition, Ridgely acted as a voice actor and spoke for numerous cartoon series . Among other things, he was the US voice of Tarzan in the Filmation production Tarzan, Lord of the Jungle and Flash Gordon in the filmation adaptation of the same name. His other speaking roles include General Ross in The Incredible Hulk , Jolly Jumper in Lucky Luke and Mr. Kelp in The Snorkels . He also spoke various supporting characters in The Smurfs , DuckTales - News from Duckburg and Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles .

He had his last appearances in Boogie Nights and Fire Down Below in 1997, in the same year he died at the age of 65 years of complications from cancer . Ridgely was married and had no children.
