The Rockaue Open Air Festival is a music festival that was held for the first time in 2015 in the Rheinaue in Bonn .

history

The history of the music festival goes back to the year 2014, when the music festival was announced as a replacement for the now no longer held Rhine culture . The first Rockaue Open Air Festival was held on July 11, 2015. The first headliners at the festival, at which a total of 41 bands played on three stages, were Schandmaul and Jennifer Rostock . A fourth stage has been reserved for national newcomer acts. The festival is designed for 90,000 visitors. The demand for tickets was so great that the organizers had to have 1,000 tickets reprinted.

The name of the festival was chosen by the organizers around Maria Hülsmann, Jürgen Harder, Daniel Ganser, Julian Reininger, Felix Weyrather, Simon Reininger, Christopher Link, Jan Hoffmann and Sandro Heinemann after many fans of Rhine culture had spoken out in favor of this name. In the past, the organizers were partially responsible for organizing the Green Juice Festival , launched the Pop Motor Contest and worked for the RheinEvents agency.

Due to the poor attendance on 8 July 2017, the organizers present at the Bonn District Court a bankruptcy -application. The bankruptcy procedure was officially started on September 6th of the same year. Jürgen Harder, who, among other things, organizes the Rhine in Flames and the Bridge Forum, said that no statement would be made until the insolvency proceedings are completed. According to the organizers, almost 10,000 visitors were counted, while observers and police assumed that there were almost 5,000 festival visitors.
