Romas Markus Dressler (born October 16, 1987 in Ebersberg ) is a German soccer player .
Career
youth
Romas Dressler, who was born to Lithuanian parents in Ebersberg near Munich , began his football career in the youth of the ATSV Kirchseeon. From there he moved to the youth team of TSV 1860 Munich , where he played in a team with later Bundesliga players such as Stefan Aigner or Fabian Johnson . The next stop was SpVgg Unterhaching , with which Dressler was relegated from the A-Junior Bundesliga in the 2004/05 season. Due to a move to Hamburger SV , Dressler also played in the A-Juniors Bundesliga in the 2005/06 season and scored five goals for the North Germans in that season. Dressler described his motives for moving to the Hanseatic city as follows:
"At that time I was about to graduate from high school, and HSV offered me the opportunity to graduate from high school in addition to football."
"Leaving home early and moving to such a big city was of course not easy, but it shaped my personality."
Seniors
On August 5, 2006 Dressler made his first senior game. In the away game of the second team of Hamburger SV at 1. FC Magdeburg , the striker came on in the 89th minute. In total, Romas Dressler played 16 games in the 2006/07 season of the then third-class Regionalliga Nord, in which he was substituted on. Dressler was allowed to train with the first team of HSV, but the breakthrough into the professional team was denied him. After he noticed those responsible for AS Lucchese Libertas at a HSV tournament in Switzerland, Dressler convinced them in a trial training session and finally switched to the Tuscan club in the summer of 2007, which had just been relegated to the third division. In Lucca, however, his shares in the game were so low that he was transferred to the Sardinian fourth division club Olbia Calcio 1905 in November 2007 . Dressler's stay in Sardinia was also short -lived. Irregular salary payments and lack of support during an extended injury break were two factors that made Dressler leave the club at the end of the 2007/08 season. Nevertheless, in retrospect, Dressler drew a positive conclusion about his time in Italy:
"The move abroad was a valuable experience for me, and I also learned Italian on the side."
Reiner Geyer , who still knew Romas Dressler from the Bayern team, was ultimately the one who signed the tall striker for the second team of SpVgg Greuther Fürth . In the Middle Franconia, Dressler was able to convince with good performances. In his first three appearances for the second division reserve, he scored three hits. Overall, the striker with 15 goals contributed significantly to the fact that the young team around talents like Edgar Prib , Nicolai Müller and Sercan Sararer could achieve relegation in the 2008/09 regional league season . His good hit rate did not go unnoticed by higher class clubs. Several interested parties contacted Dressler, including WSV trainer Uwe Fuchs , who was finally able to convince the striker to join Wuppertaler SV in the 3rd soccer league . Dressler celebrated a tailor-made debut at the WSV. In the first game of the season at 1. FC Heidenheim he scored the interim 1: 1 equalizer after being substituted on in the 51st minute and prepared the goal for 2: 2. Despite this good debut, Dressler was unable to play in the regular Wuppertal formation due to an injury and was mostly only used as a substitute. In total, he scored four goals in 22 games for the Red-Blue and had to accept relegation from the 3rd division with his team . After the season it became known that Wuppertaler SV was no longer planning with Dressler.
The Chemnitzer FC showed interest in the attacker and reported in June 2010 the obligation Dresslers. Dressler made his debut for the Himmelblauen on the 1st matchday of the 2010/11 season of the Regionalliga Nord. In the away game at VFC Plauen , the attacker came on in the 70th minute. Dressler also played a part in the surprising victory in the DFB Cup over Bundesliga club FC St. Pauli . In total, the striker contributed 2 hits in 8 missions to the rise of the Saxons in the 3rd division. Larger was his share in the relegation of the second team of Chemnitz in the Oberliga Nordost, Gruppe Süd . With twelve goals in 15 games, he was a decisive factor in the fact that the second representation, which had only been promoted to the 2010/11 season, could also play in the fifth-highest class in the following season. In May 2011 Chemnitzer FC announced that the contract with Romas Dressler would not be extended. The attacker's search for a new club was made more difficult by an ankle injury. An operation by the sports doctor Hans-Wilhelm Müller-Wohlfahrt was able to significantly improve the healing process. During Dressler's convalescence, Ronald Borchers , coach of the regional division Wormatia Worms , contacted the striker and inquired about his health. At the same time, Borchers expressed his interest in a commitment from Dressler during the winter break of the 2011/12 season, which came about after a sports medical examination in Worms.
"I'm very grateful to Mr. Borchers for how he looked after me, how he rebuilt me and stood up for me"
It was not until his sixth appearance for Rheinhessen that Dressler met for the first time. Overall, he scored five goals in 12 games in the 2011/12 season , in which the Wormatia took fourth place in the final table. The highlight of the season, however, was Wormatia's victory in the Südwestpokal , which qualified for participation in the DFB Cup in the 2012/13 season . Both in the semifinals at SVN Zweibrücken and in the final against FK Pirmasens Dressler was able to score one goal each. The sporting management was so satisfied with Dressler's performances that in April 2012 their contract, which originally expired at the end of the season, was extended to 2013. The striker attracted attention nationwide when he scored the winning goal in the first round of the 2012/13 DFB Cup to make Wormatia 2-1 over the second division Hertha BSC . In the regional league Dressler, who was not spared injuries in the 2012/13 season, scored a total of eight goals in 22 appearances. In June 2013, Wormatia Worms announced that they had not reached an agreement with Dressler on a contract extension.
For the 2013/14 season Dressler received a two-year contract with SSV Jahn Regensburg . Dressler's time in Regensburg was marred again and again by injuries, so that he could only play 23 of 60 possible league games before his contract was prematurely terminated in January 2015. In these 23 games, Dressler scored six goals for the Upper Palatinate. The striker scored his last goal at 4: 4 on the 5th matchday of the 2014/15 season against Hansa Rostock . In January 2015, Dressler signed a contract with the regional division Eintracht Trier until June 30, 2015.
A few months later, for the 2015/16 season , he moved to FC Kray in the Regionalliga West . With the Essen club, he was relegated to the Oberliga Niederrhein . In January 2017 Dressler terminated his contract and switched to league competitor 1. FC Bocholt . In December 2017 he ended his career due to an injury.
