The sixth season of the German crime series SOKO Leipzig celebrated its premiere on March 31, 2006 on ZDF . The final was broadcast on January 19, 2007.

The season's episodes were first broadcast on the Friday 9:15 pm slot.

As in the previous season, a feature- length episode (90 minutes instead of the usual 45-minute length of an episode) was produced with Escape from Santo Domingo . In the episode, the SOKO team investigates outside of German territory. The action takes place in Santo Domingo , the capital of the Dominican Republic .

The building contractor Gerhardt Hofmann falls to his death on one of his construction sites. The investigators find no evidence of the battle, but neither do they believe in a murder. During the investigation it turns out that Hofmann had debts with Holger Franke, who in turn is now dealing with dubious financial advisors. To prove against the financial advisory office Köhler and its boss Klaus Köhler. But when the Chief Detective Maybach failed to find evidence against him during an undercover mission, the investigators suspected that this would not be an easy case.

The policeman Tanja Schubert's neck is broken on her doorstep. She survived but will be paralyzed from the neck down and unable to speak. Her strip partner directs suspicion to Tanja's ex-boyfriend Patrick Hendel, who terrorized her with letters and phone calls after the breakup. But the SOKO investigators find the persistence of the statement strange and they begin investigations within their own ranks. It turns out that Tanja Schubert must have investigated her colleagues, and the district manager Enn Waller also seems to want to hide something.

That is why Kriminalhauptkommissar Trautzschke is smuggled undercover into the group of anonymous alcoholics and tries to gain knowledge, but the case is more difficult than expected.

The inspectors are in the dark, but then Jenny disappears and the investigation picks up speed.

Radical animal rights activists around Florian Schneider and his girlfriend Viola Ott are suspicious, but when the investigators come across a series of illegal dog fights, the case takes an unexpected turn and Detective Superintendent Alvarez has to investigate the scene undercover.

A loophole is suspected and Chief Detective Ina Zimmermann is smuggled into the prison and encounters a swamp of corruption and illegal machinations. When the convicted murderess Jenny Kunst was moved to the prison in Leipzig, the investigators had to act quickly, because Jenny Kunst and Ina Zimmermann knew each other from a previous case and the investigator could be in mortal danger.

The branch manager was killed in the robbery, but the investigators are certain that the old lady didn’t pull it off alone, as she had only been noticed as a trick thief so far. The pensioner's roommate, Bernhard Wilms, is suspected. During the investigation against the couple, the commissioners uncover a number of other thefts and robberies committed by Adelheid and Bernhard.

When after the death of the Viennese art historian Dr. Adrian Galler KO drops are found in his blood, the SOKO begins the murder investigation. In doing so, they come across Eva Galler, the dead man's lover, who, like Mr. Kampnagel, who was convicted of theft by the dead man. Since both have a motive and the investigation is stalling, Chief Detective Jan Maybach meets with Dr. Irina Schönbrunn, the dead man's psychologist, and the investigators uncover a secret. Jan Maybach goes looking for Kordes alone and is knocked down by a supposed drug dealer. The investigator is taken to an industrial site, where the case takes a surprising turn. The rest of the SOKO investigators do not know anything about this: They are looking for their colleague and hope to find him alive.

When the police arrive at a supposed crime scene, they can only determine the death of the victim, but his truck has disappeared. As with the victim, however, packets of cigarettes without a tax stamp are found and the investigation leads to the Nhat family's Vietnamese market. But there seems to be a secret behind the fact that the investigators are only slowly coming. By then it is almost too late and the case threatens to end in disaster. Investigators must act quickly.

A struggle for life and death begins for the SOKO.

Insurance agent Chris Coenen was slain. During their investigation, the SOKO finds out that the boss of Coenen has an ominous contractual practice and fires his employees if a certain number of new customers is not reached. Coenen seems to have hit that number, but the last contracts he signed have disappeared. Investigators feverishly search for the culprit, but the case takes an unexpected turn when officers find the missing contracts. The murdered man's colleagues are the target of the investigation because not all of them have played with open cards.

Barbara Steinmann is hospitalized with poisoning, but the incident does not appear to be an accident. In the investigation of the SOKO officials, a targeted arsenic poisoning comes to light and the commissioners have to investigate within the strictly religious evangelical community. Barbara had a boyfriend who displeased her father and who then punished her, but could that be the trigger for a suicide? The investigators are skeptical, especially since Georg Möller behaves strangely and poses puzzles. In the end, however, the commissioners discover an incredible family secret. Meanwhile, Chief Detective Maybach takes heart and confesses to his boss, Chief Detective Trautzschke, the relationship with his daughter and he is stunned.

The politician Hans Schweizer is kidnapped in front of his daughter Peggy. Chief Detective Trautzschke recalls the kidnapping victim's involvement in a toxic waste scandal. His accomplice went to jail, but Schweizer got away with a fine. But the politician's daughter and her boyfriend don't seem to be playing with open cards either, so that the SOKO is puzzled as to the background to the kidnapping. There are also no ransom demands and the investigators suspect a personal context of the crime.

Chief Inspector Maybach wants to fulfill the legacy of his dead colleague, Inspector Alvarez, and sponsor the boy Elian, but his trip to Santo Domingo with Chief Inspector Trautzschke ends in tragedy, because the chief inspector's room is left by the police after a night with young Emanuela stormed. The investigator flees to find his nocturnal company. Trautzschke, who knows nothing about the escape of his potential son-in-law, is investigating the case of his colleague and finds out that Jan Maybach is accused of a hit-and-run accident. He is said to have run over Georg Bäumler in his rental car, but the situation seems strange to the SOKO boss: the victim's family was on the same plane as the investigators and there was a dispute within the Bäumler. When the multi-million dollar life insurance comes to light, the case takes an unexpected turn.

Dr. Maximilian Fechner is killed in the parking lot of a Tai Chi studio. The doctor seems to have led a double life with two women. One of the two seems to be the perpetrator, because witnesses saw a woman flee from the scene. For the investigators, an extensive search for clues begins, which is more difficult than expected.

The lawyer Dr. Jürgen Lippold was murdered on the German-Czech border. The police of the Czech Republic asks the German investigators of the SOKO Leipzig for administrative assistance in the murder investigation. But the lawyer does not seem to have been particularly popular with the residents of the Czech city of Bodenbach, as he was given the opportunity to transfer real estate back on behalf of his client, Colonel a. D. von Schwarzenberg should examine. The residents of the village almost all have a motive, but the victim's family doesn't seem to be completely clean either. The solution seems to have been found, however, when a clue leads to the Bodenbach city archive and the German and Czech SOKO investigators jointly look for a motive and find what they are looking for.
