The ninth season of the German crime series SOKO Leipzig celebrated its premiere on April 3, 2009 at the station ZDF . The finale was broadcast on October 30, 2009.
The episodes of the season were first broadcast on the Friday 9:15 pm slot.
As in previous seasons, a feature- length episode (90 minutes instead of the usual 45-minute length of an episode) was produced with Abduction in London (Proof of Life) . In this episode there is a crossover with the British television series The Bill . The SOKO team investigates together with the investigators from The Bill in the British capital London and later in Leipzig .

Chief Detective Zimmermann wants to have her son vaccinated against measles by his pediatrician, but he has been murdered. The commissioner now has to manage the job and the care of her son, because he is not allowed to go to kindergarten because of the lack of vaccination. Meanwhile, the predecessor of pediatrician Dr. Fuchs, Dr. Bünninger, the target of the investigation, but the mysterious method of a "measles party" in which parents bring their healthy and sick children together is suspect. The commissioner and her son get into the middle of this party.

The goddaughter of the Leipzig chief detective Trautzschke is kidnapped in London. It flies there immediately. He is accompanied by his colleague Chief Detective Ina Zimmermann. Once in London, the two German investigators want to support the work of the British police around Detective Chief Inspector Jack Meadows, Detective Constable Mickey Webb and Detective Constable Kezia Walker. However, they repeatedly clash with the local investigators because they disagree with the work of the British police or with their methods.
