The Sachsenburg nature reserve is located in the Wartburg district in Thuringia . It extends southwest of Oberalba , a district of the municipality of Dermbach , around the 720.9 meter high Sachsenburg mountain . The Bornwiesen nature reserve connects to the south . The state road L 1026 runs north of the area and the B 285 to the east .

The 52.1 hectare area with the NSG no. 92 was placed under nature protection in 1961.
