Schewzowo ( Russian Шевцово , German Plikow , 1938-1945 Plickau ) is a small town in the extreme southeast of Pravdinsk Rajon within the Russian Kaliningrad Oblast . It belongs to the Gorodskoje posselenije Schelesnodoroschnoje (township of Schelesnodoroschny (Gerdauen) ).

Geographical location

Schewzowo is four kilometers northeast of Krylowo not far from the Russian highway A 197 . It is 21 kilometers to the former district town of Gerdauen (Russian: Schelesnodoroschny), and the current Rajon capital Pravdinsk is 42 kilometers away. There is no train connection.

history

Until 1945 the place formerly called Plikow was part of the city of Nordenburg and belonged to the district of Gerdauen in the administrative district of Königsberg in the Prussian province of East Prussia . On June 3, 1938 (with official confirmation of 16 July 1938) plików was in Plickau renamed .

After Plikow came to the Soviet Union with northern East Prussia in 1945 , it was given the Russian name Schewzowo in 1950 .

Until 2009, Shevzovo was incorporated into the Krylovsky Soviet (Krylowo Village Soviet ) within the Russian Kaliningrad Oblast . Since then, due to structural and administrative reform, the place has been classified as a "settlement" (possjolok) in Gorodskoje posselenije Schelesnodoroschnoje (township of Schelesnodoroschny).

Before 1945, the population of Plikow or Plickau was almost without exception Protestant denomination and parish in the parish of Nordenburg (Russian: Krylowo). It belonged to the church district Gerdauen within the church province of East Prussia of the Church of the Old Prussian Union . The last German clergy before 1945 were pastors Alfred Kaminsky and Paul Terpitz .

Today Schewzowo is in the catchment area of ​​the evangelical community in Chernyakhovsk . It belongs to the Kaliningrad provost within the Evangelical Lutheran Church of European Russia (ELKER).
