Schmalzmisse is a nature reserve designated by the Karlsruhe Regional Council of May 29, 1995 with the number 2.188.

location

The protected area is located on the southern outskirts of Ettmannsweiler . It is located in the natural area of the Black Forest edge plates and is part of the FFH area No. 7317-341 Kleinenztal and Black Forest edge plates .

Protection purpose

According to the ordinance, the protection purpose is the preservation, development and care of the richly structured, light pine / fir / oak (beech) stands and the forest moors of the "Enz-Nagold-Missen", which have been shaped by humans for centuries. The protection purpose is also the safeguarding of the geological, climatic and hydrological conditions as well as the maintenance of the wet or missig or dry, lichen-rich forest stands as a habitat for typical, rare and specialized animal and plant species. In particular, the various reindeer and cup lichens, peat moss, sour grasses, heather plants, arachnids and insects, reptiles, amphibians and birds are to be protected.

Flora and fauna

The Scots pine bog forest is home to the protected spotted orchid . There are two species of grasshopper in the reserve that deserve special attention: Alpine mountain hoppers and white-rimmed grasshoppers .
