location

The protected areas extend from the eastern outskirts of Simmersfeld to Berneck . You are in the natural area of the Black Forest edge plates . The conservation area almost completely encloses the nature reserve. The NSG is also part of the FFH area No. 7317-341 Kleinenztal and Black Forest edge plates .

Protection purpose

The areas were designated as nature and landscape protection areas by a joint ordinance issued by the Karlsruhe Regional Council on December 20, 1991. According to this ordinance, the protection purpose is the preservation, development and care of the near-natural valley landscape of the "Enz-Nagold-Platten" as a habitat for typical, specialized animal and plant species, in particular the diverse types of wetlands and semi-humid biotopes, as well as securing the historically unique water meadows and the sun-exposed slopes with the numerous stone walls and hedges.

Flora and fauna

In the area there are stocks of the endangered plant species broad-leaved orchid , globe flower and wood louse herb . The occurrence of the brook lamprey speaks for the water quality of the Köllbach . The populations of the meadowsweet pearly butterfly and the grasshopper Alpine mountain cricket deserve special mention .
