Simmozheimer forest is with regulation of the Regional Council Karlsruhe been instructed of 21 December 1979 Nature Reserve with the number 2041.

location

The nature reserve is located in the Obere Gäue natural area . It is located about 500 meters southwest of Simmozheim and is almost completely surrounded by the landscape protection area No. 2.35.051 Hörnle and Geißberg . The area is part of the FFH area No. 7218-341 Calwer Heckengäu .

Protection purpose

According to the ordinance, the main protective purpose is the preservation of the lean- lime willow ( Gentiano-Koelerietum ) with its loose pine forest in its uniqueness, diversity and beauty.

Flora and fauna

The area is the location of rare and endangered plant species such as fringed gentian , golden and silver thistle as well as numerous species of orchids such as white forest bird , spotted orchid , brown stendelwort , Müller's stendelwort and marsh stendelwort . There are over 10 species of grasshoppers in the area, including the hardwood saber-hoppers and the red club-hoppers .
