location

The protected areas are located in the Obere Gäue natural area and are part of the FFH area No. 7218-341 Calwer Heckengäu . It is located west of the federal highway 296 , between the Calw district of Stammheim in the north and ceiling Pfronn in the south.

Protection purpose

The areas were designated as nature and landscape protection areas by a joint ordinance issued by the Karlsruhe Regional Council on November 27, 1992. According to this ordinance, the protection purpose is the preservation, development and care of the typical natural landscape of the "Würm-Heckengäu" as a habitat for typical, specialized animal and plant species (e.g. endangered, threatened and typical mammals, birds, reptiles, butterflies, grasshoppers and Hymenoptera), especially as a location for semi-arid grassland, stony, shallow arable land and hedges.

Flora and fauna

A special feature of the area is the occurrence of the endangered and poisonous thorn finger spider . The wild herb flora in the extensively cultivated arable land in the area is made up of tendril flat peas , blue gauchheil and summer adonis roses .
