Ziegelberg is a nature reserve designated by the Karlsruhe Regional Council of December 16, 1994 with the number 2.185.

location

The nature reserve is located in the Obere Gäue natural area and is southeast of the city of Nagold . It is largely congruent with the bird sanctuary No. 7418-401 Ziegelberg and is part of the FFH area No. 7418-341 Nagolder Heckengäu .

Protection purpose

According to the ordinance, the protection purpose is the preservation, development and care of the near-natural, richly structured landscape of the Nagold-Heckengäu as a habitat for typical specialized animal and plant species. In particular, the diverse types of arid areas and hedge complexes with the rare and protected animal and plant species that live in them are to be protected. The protection purpose is also the preservation and development of the quarry with its vertical, open rock faces and the pioneer sites, furthermore the preservation of the pine-spruce mixed stands as well as the preservation and promotion of extensive open land areas in the vicinity of the pine-spruce-fir population in the southeast of the protected area.

Flora and fauna

The following typical plant species can be found in the semi-arid grassland of the protected area: common pasque flower , cross gentian , golden thistle , thorny hawk and Carthusian carnation . The rare rosemary willowherb grows on the area's pioneer land, which is poor in fine soil . There is the endangered red-winged snatcher and one can find the hardwood saber- hedge , which is on the red list in several federal states of Germany . In summer the singing of the rare mountain cicada can be heard on the juniper heaths and in the pine forests . The peregrine falcon breeds in the steep quarry walls .
