Hörnle and Geißberg is with regulation of the Regional Council Karlsruhe been instructed by December 30, 1993 Nature Reserve with the number 2176 and an eponymous conservation area with the number 2.35.051.

location

The protected areas are located in the natural areas of Obere Gäue and Schwarzwald-Randplatten . It borders in the south and northeast on the 83 hectare landscape protection area No. 2.35.051 Hörnle and Geißberg , which serves as a buffer and supplement. The protected area is part of FFH area no. 7218-341 Calwer Heckengäu and includes the Hörnle (586.5 m) and Geißberg (577.7 m) elevations , which are north-west and north of Simmozheim .

Protection purpose

According to the ordinance, the protection purpose is the preservation, development and care of a small-scale structured landscape with its typical landscape elements on shell limestone such as semi-arid grassland, poor meadows, stony arable land, hedges, orchards and small stone quarries as the habitat of typical, specialized animal and plant species.

Flora and fauna

The semi-arid lawns are populated by plants such as the bulbous buttercup , the little meadow button and the Carthusian carnation . A special feature of the area is the occurrence of the protected field tiger beetle . In the forest edges breed Whitethroat and Red-backed Shrike .
