Staufen is a nature reserve designated by the Karlsruhe Regional Council on June 5, 1992 with the number 2.151.

location

The nature reserve is located in the Obere Gäue and Schwarzwald-Randplatten natural areas . It is located immediately west of the municipality of Rohrdorf in the Calw district. The nature reserve is part of FFH area No. 7418-341 Nagolder Heckengäu .

Protection purpose

According to the ordinance, the protection purpose is the preservation and care of the near-natural, richly structured landscape of the "Nagold-Heckengäu" as a habitat for typical, specialized animal and plant species, in particular the diverse dry area types and alternating humid biotopes with the rare and protected animal and plant species that live in them.

Flora and fauna

The protected area is characterized by a small-scale change of different locations. In the semi-arid grasslands you can find: German fringed gentian , common fringed gentian , silver thistle , golden thistle and pigeon scabiosis . Large butterflies such as the swallowtail and the southern haymother find ideal living conditions in the forest fringes of the southern area . Mountain tiger beetles and field tiger beetles can be observed on sunny soils without vegetation . Old cave trees in the interior of the protected area serve as summer quarters for bat species such as the gray long-eared or the little noctule bat . The lynx spider Oxyopes ramosus , which is on the red list , can be found in the pine forest sections .
