In the summer of 1995 he was transferred to the Tampa Bay Lightning , which he left after two years and moved to the San Jose Sharks . The Canadian also stayed there for two seasons before returning to Tampa for one final professional season. He officially announced the end of his career on July 26, 2000. Shawn Burr died on August 5, 2013 after falling at his home in which he suffered massive brain trauma. He had previously had leukemia for three years . From 1993 to 1996 Burr was the owner of the Newmarket Royals franchise from which the Sarnia Sting emerged in 1994 .
