history
The coat of arms of the Great Socialist Libyan Arab People's Jamahiriya was adopted in 1977 when it left the Federation of Arab Republics . Instead of the eagle Saladin used previously, it showed the Koreishite falcon - in contrast to the Egyptian or Syrian heraldic falcon, however, the Libyan falcon now looked in the opposite direction. The green of the shield symbolized as the Flag of Libya Islam and the so-called "Green Book" Gaddafi with the principles of the Libyan revolution. The text on the golden ribbon meant "Socialist Libyan Arab People's Jamahiriya".
The seal of the National Transitional Council functioned from April 2011 until its dissolution in August 2012 as the emblem of Libya. It showed a crescent moon and a star in the colors of the Libyan flag (red, black and green) as well as the Arabic and English inscriptions on the edgeالمجلس الوطني الانتقالي / al-maǧlis al-waṭanī al-intiqālī / 'national transition council', Transitional National Council andليبيا / Lībiyā / 'Libya' and Libya .
