The Siltronic AG is a manufacturer of wafers made of pure silicon , the basis for modern micro- and nanotechnology. The Munich- based company is the world's third largest manufacturer of wafers for the semiconductor industry.

history

The company was founded in 1968 as Wacker-Chemitronic GmbH in Burghausen and was renamed Wacker Siltronic GmbH in 1994. The name was changed to a stock corporation (Wacker Siltronic AG) in 1996. In 2004 the name was changed to Siltronic AG.

The company manufactures silicon wafers with diameters up to 300 mm at its two German production sites in Burghausen and Freiberg as well as at locations in Asia and the USA . The company is a member of the association / industry association Silicon Saxony .

Share and shareholder structure

The company's shares have been traded in the Prime Standard of the Frankfurt Stock Exchange since June 11, 2015 and were included in the TecDAX on December 21 of the same year . Before that, Siltronic was a 100% subsidiary of Wacker Chemie . Since September 24, 2018, Siltronic has also been included in the MDAX .

The company's share capital is divided into 30 million shares . Fixed ownership is a stake of 30.83%, which Wacker Chemie has held since March 2017 . The remaining 69.17% are considered to be free float . As of November 2018, BlackRock, Inc. is the largest shareholder of the reportable free float shareholders with 3.47% of the voting rights.

The silicon wafers are offered with the doping boron , phosphorus , antimony and arsenic . Both the Czochralski and the zone drawing process are used as the drawing process .

Holdings

In the course of a capital increase in 2014, Siltronic increased its shares in the joint venture Siltronic Silicon Wafer Pte. Ltd with Samsung to 78%. Before that, the joint venture that had existed since 2006 operated under the name Siltronic Samsung Wafer Pte. Ltd. The company manufactures 300mm wafers at a factory in Singapore.
