Sportsman of the year 1953 (Germany)

The best German athletes of 1953 were honored by Kurt Dobbratz on December 12th in the Schlossgarten restaurant in Stuttgart . The election was organized for the 7th time by the Internationale Sport-Korrespondenz (ISK). A total of 311 sports reporters and editors from the Federal Republic , Berlin , the GDR , the Saarland and from abroad cast their votes, which was a new high in the number of votes. There was no separate evaluation of athletes, the best woman in the evaluation was “Sportswoman of the Year”. Among the nominees was national soccer coach Sepp Herberger , who received three votes.
