The list of cities in Afghanistan provides an overview of the population development in the larger cities of the Central Asian state of Afghanistan .

By far the largest agglomeration in Afghanistan is Kabul with a population of 3,961,500 (as of September 21, 2017). This means that 14 percent of the country's people live in the capital region.

The table contains the cities with more than 10,000 inhabitants, their names in German transcription and in Persian , the results of the census (VZ) of June 23, 1979 as well as an official estimate by the Central Office for Statistics in Afghanistan for September 21, 2006 and the September 21, 2017. The province to which the city belongs is also listed. The population figures refer to the actual city without the suburbs.
