The parish church of St. Leopold is a Roman Catholic church consecrated to St. Leopold in the 17th  district of Graz, Puntigam .

History and design

The settlement of the youngest Graz district of Puntigam, which has risen sharply since the interwar period, was taken into account by the construction of a parish center and church in the southern part of the district in the 1960s. The search for a plot of land turned out to be difficult, however, as there was no structure in the suburbs. In 1967 the architectural community with Edda Gellner , Fritz Neuhold and Heimo Widtmann won the competition.

The church, rectory and parish center were built as simple cubic structures. A free-standing bell carrier in the shape of a cross was added later. The church building stands out clearly from the other buildings with its tent-shaped roof landscape made of black Eternit . The substructure is plastered white and the roof is apparently held in suspension by a narrow strip of windows all around. The Styrian artist Fritz Hartlauer was responsible for designing the interior .
