Suchodol ( Russian Суходо́л ) is an urban-type settlement in Samara Oblast ( Russia ) with 13,413 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010).

geography

The settlement is a good 100 km as the crow flies northeast of the Samara Oblast Administrative Center to the left of the Sok tributary Surgut .

Suchodol belongs to Rajon Sergijewsk and is located just over 5 km southeast of the administrative center Sergijewsk . The settlement forms a municipality (gorodskoje posselenije), to which no other localities belong.

history

The place was first mentioned in 1849 in statistical materials of the then Ujezds Sergievsk as the village of Bogojawlenka . In the 1920s it was given its current name after a stream flowing there.

As part of the development of oil reserves in the previously mainly agricultural area, a prefabricated workers' settlement was built in the 1960s , which was given the status of an urban-type settlement in 1970.

Attractions

Partly from the remains of a wooden church consecrated in 1910 and closed since the 1920s, the Archangel Michael Church was built between 1995 and 2001 ( церковь Михаила Архангела , Zerkow Archangela Michaila ).

Economy and Infrastructure

In Suchodol there are various service, transport and construction companies related to the exploration and production of oil in the surrounding area.

The railway station Sernyje Vody 1 is located near Suchodol , at kilometer 82 just before the end point Sernyje Vody 2 on a branch line in Krotowka from the Samara - Ufa  - Chelyabinsk line, which is operated by the Kuibyshev Railway . The M5 trunk road , which connects Moscow via Samara with Chelyabinsk in the Urals , passes south of the settlement .
