history

The later Zülshof was called "Swliczow" in 1373. It belonged to the episcopal principality of Neisse , which had been a fief of the Crown of Bohemia since 1342 . For the year 1375 the spelling “Schuluchow” and 1375 “Czulschow” is handed down. After it had perished in the Thirty Years' War , a Vorwerk was built around which a manor district was created.

After the First Silesian War in 1742, the Zülzhof estate with most of the principality of Neisse fell to Prussia . In 1810 the principality of Neisse was secularized . From 1816 Gutsbezirk Zülzhof belonged to the district Grottkau in the administrative district of Opole . From 1874 the Zülzhof manor district was incorporated into the Giersdorf district, which consisted of the rural communities of Hohen- and Nieder-Giersdorf and the manor districts of Hohen- and Nieder-Giersdorf and Zülzhof. On March 1, 1932, the Zülzhof manor district was merged with the rural community of Giersdorf.

As a result of the Second World War, Zülzhof came under Polish administration in 1945, like most of Silesia . It was subsequently renamed Sulisław and joined the Silesian Voivodeship. The German population was largely expelled . It has belonged to the Opole Voivodeship since 1950. In 1999 it was incorporated into the then newly founded Powiat Brzeski ( Brieg district ).

Attractions

  • The Zülshof Castle was built in the second half of the 19th century in neo-Gothic style. It is surrounded by a walled park with an entrance gate. The manor in the west was built at the same time as the castle. In 1977 the castle was placed under a preservation order, the adjacent park in 1983.
