Tanit Phoenix (born September 24, 1980 in Durban , Natal ) is a South African model and actress .

Tanit Phoenix was born in Durban, South Africa, in what is now KwaZulu-Natal . She started ballet at the age of five , danced for fifteen years and learned the martial art of Muay Thai .

Model career

Phoenix started modeling at the age of fifteen. She stood in front of the camera for American Swiss Jewelery and is still the face of this brand today. This was followed by orders for Adidas , Nivea , Alberto VO5 , Aria Casino , Transition Lenses, Volvic and Veet . She works as an international model and is therefore booked by agencies such as Munich Models in Munich , Why Not Model Agency in Milan , Model Management in Hamburg , Ice Model Management in Cape Town , Click Models in Los Angeles and Success Models in Paris .

Phoenix was in the European commercial for the shower gel brand Fa ( Henkel ) to see. She was then shown on the cover of the German edition of Maxim . After winning the German Maxim Award in 2004, she was featured on the cover of US Maxim the following year . Furthermore, she was photographed for the magazines Cosmopolitan , FHM , Legacy , Indwe , Marie Claire , Shape and GQ for the cover picture and in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue for swimwear.

Acting career

Phoenix made her acting debut in Lord of War in 2005 , starring Nicolas Cage , as the friend of Jared Leto's character. Her first appearance in a television series was in the Canadian- South African co-production Charlie Jade . She had a bigger role than Megan Alba in the South African comedy Crazy Monkey Presents Straight Outta Benoni . In 2008 she played the supporting role of Alexandria in the Indian low-budget film Maya . She then made a guest appearance in the short-lived action series The Philanthropist as a lap dancer . In 2010 she received more role offers and we saw them as fishing alongside Wesley Snipes in the horror - thriller Gallowwalkers and as a teacher , Mrs. Wilson alongside John Cleese and Troye Sivan in Spud . She also played Ettie in Schuk's Tshabalala's Survival Guide to South Africa, a South African comedy and in the horror film Lost Boys: The Thirst , a direct-to-DVD production , as the vampire Gwen Lieber alongside Corey Feldman . In the action film Death Race 2 she played the role of Katrina Banks and stood in front of the camera with Sean Bean , Ving Rhames , Luke Goss , Lauren Cohan and Danny Trejo . She did some of the stunts in the film herself. From 2011 to 2012 she played the role of Lilith in the Cinemax / HBO series Femme Fatales . In 2012 she had an appearance as a hostess in the thriller Safe House . She stood in front of the camera alongside Leon Schuster in the comedy Mad Buddies (2012). In the same year she stood in front of the camera for the second sequel to Death Race , which was marketed as a direct-to-DVD production under the name Death Race: Inferno . In the Spud sequel called Spud 2: The Madness Continues , she was again in front of the camera with Cleese in 2013.

Personal

Phoenix is vegan and supports animal welfare projects for monkeys , elephants and dogs, among others . She lives in Cape Town and Los Angeles.

Phoenix has been in a relationship with fellow actor Sharlto Copley since 2012 . The couple got engaged in July 2015 and married on February 15, 2016.
