A Midsummer Night's Dream is a television film from the crime series Tatort . The report produced by Bayerischer Rundfunk under the direction of Walter Bannert was first broadcast on July 25, 1993 in the first as the 278th episode in the series. It is the fifth case for Commissioners Ivo Batic and Franz Leitmayr .

action

In the English Garden in Munich , a theater group is rehearsing Shakespeare'sMidsummer Night's Dream ” for a youth festival. In addition to the walkers, recreational athletes and others looking for relaxation in nature, there is also a group of Satan's disciples in the large park. One day one of their “disciples of Lucifer” is found dead on the Isar after an overdose of drugs . The investigative commissioners Batic and Leitmayr quickly lead a trail to the theater group that had a quarrel with the victim because Margot, one of its members, is about to migrate to the disciples, which the group tries to prevent. However, they deny having murdered the young man.

In order to come into contact with the sect , the investigators contact the leader "Hinky", who lost a lower leg in a motorcycle accident, which explains the name. His group also includes "Ratte", to which Margot is drawn, and a number of young people who are obviously drug addicted. For Batic and Leitmayr it is difficult to prove that the group is guilty of the young man's death. After the victim turns out to be the vehicle rope on file, his criminal record indicates few friends. His probation officer Olga confirms that the boy was constantly in trouble and would ultimately have slipped into the drug scene. They also learned that for some time Simmerding, a colleague of DEA, interested in the group and Wagenseil there as undercover agent had infiltrated. While Batic and Leitmayr are in the process of reprimanding their colleagues for not informing them, some members of the theater group are in the process of ambushing one of the "disciples of Lucifer". This action escalates and the young man has a heart attack and dies. This means that the investigators have another death from the controversial religious group, which they can, however, quickly clarify as bodily harm resulting in death.

In their investigation into the Wagenseil case, Batic and Leitmayr succeed in freeing Margot from the clutches of the disciples of Satan. The cult leader Hinky displeases this and demonstrates his power by setting fire to the amateur actors' theater sets at night .

First, Margot explains to the police that Wagenseil was injected with the lethal dose of narcotics from "Hinky". Batic and Leitmayr then want to arrest him, but before they succeed, he voluntarily throws himself to his death. After Margot is further “sober”, she ends up accusing her friend “Ratte” of administering the drug to Wagenseil.
