Whoever harvests wind sows storm! is a television film from the crime series Tatort by ARD , ORF and SRF . The film was produced by Radio Bremen and broadcast for the first time on June 14, 2015. It is the 951st episode in the crime scene series and the 32nd case for Commissioner Inga Lürsen ( Sabine Postel ).
action
The over-ambitious animal welfare activist Hendrik Paulsen protests in video messages online against the expansion of wind turbines in the North Sea, which is badly affecting the animal world and thousands of migratory birds are being "shredded" from the rotors every year.
Shortly after his last online message, he can no longer be found and his comrade-in-arms Valdez is found shot in their action center. Another campaigner, Kilian Hardendorf, is certain that the wind farm operator Overbeck is behind the attack, because the uncomfortable actions of the animal rights activists not only block a loan that is vital for the company, but also aimed at shutting down the entire wind farm project.
In search of Paulsen, Commissioner Stedefreund, who is working on the case with his colleague Lürsen, has wind farm operator Overbeck show one of the wind turbines in the North Sea. Once up there he finds numerous dead sea birds, traces of blood and a camera lying on the ground. Everything indicates that Paulsen had been up here. According to the forensic investigation, the blood clearly came from Paulsen, who very likely fell from the platform of the wind turbine into the sea. Lars Overbeck thus becomes the main suspect. But he argues that the whole thing is just one of Paulsen's many actions against him to stop him. This is supported by the fact that Paulsen has a pistol. Therefore, Commissioner Stedefreund believes it is possible that Paulsen killed Valdez, who was seriously ill from his dangerous environmental campaigns, just to put the act on Overbeck.
Overbeck is still coming under more and more pressure. This is benefiting Milan Berger, a competitor and hedge fund operator who wants to take possession of Overbeck's lucrative lake properties. After a video by Paulsen appears online that is supposed to prove that the wind turbines are real seabird killing machines, Overbeck seems to have ended. He is in close contact with the environmental association and wants to suggest that he is committed to environmentally friendly systems. But that is of no use against these new recordings, the authenticity of which he doubts, since in his opinion this video could not have been made on his wind turbines.
Meanwhile, Paulsen's body is found in the sea and it turns out that he was shot with the same gun as Valdez. After forensics found the server from where Paulsen's last video was posted, Lürsen and Stedefreund find the owner Sergeij Blochin also shot in his shop. It would appear that Paulsen, with whom he was a friend, had entrusted the video to him and commissioned him to put it on the Internet. When Blochin recognized the explosiveness of the material, however, he tried to blackmail Overbeck and informed the environmental activists about it. All the evidence speaks against Paulsen's colleague Kilian Hardendorf, who had apparently forged the bird video and was privy to Paulsen's plan to bring Overbeck to fall by means of the murder of Valdez and his self-staged death. When Overbeck asks him about it and wants to demand accountability, he is attacked by Kilian Hardendorf and suffocated with a plastic bag. Afterwards he went to Berger and threatened him and his board of directors, knowing that he only wanted to exploit the North Sea regardless of ecology. He finally wants to set an example and bring Paulsen's mission to an end after it failed despite spectacular actions. In the process, both have lost all standards of reason and kill people in order to maybe save animals. Lürsen and Stedefreund are alerted and arrive with the SEK, but they can no longer prevent Hardendorf from shooting Berger and, in the end, himself.

Reviews
Holger Gertz , the film and television critic of the Süddeutsche Zeitung , drew a mixed balance. He located the scene of the crime Whoever harvests wind, sows storm! somewhere between ambiguity and involuntary comedy. He wrote: “The narrators of this story want to keep in the balance who is good and who is bad [...]. The ambiguity of the staff sometimes seems silly. [....] An unsentimental, bulky, but sometimes also confused piece. "
Matthias Hannemann , the critic of the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung , particularly emphasized the congenial collaboration between the journalist and screenwriter Wilfried Huismann and director Florian Baxmeyer. He wrote in summary: “The result is a very coherent crime thriller with subtle exaggerations and allusions, subtle humor, melancholy soundtrack (Stefan Hansen) and a cool camera (Peter Joachim Krause), which should also be watched when the rescue the world has to be postponed for ninety minutes. "
Christian Buß rated the crime scene Whoever harvests wind, sows storm! in his criticism in the news magazine Der Spiegel rather negative. In his opinion, it was a "well-intentioned" but "confused" crime scene. He summarized the television film as follows: "Those responsible for the new" crime scene "about wind farms, sea birds and sharks are trying to shed light on the ambivalences of the topic - and in the fog in the North Sea they lose sight of the difficult characters and the even more difficult material."
