Thomas Gebauer (born June 30, 1982 in Augsburg , Germany ) is an Austrian football goalkeeper . The native German has had Austrian citizenship since October 2012.

Career

Gebauer began his football career in the youth of TSV Meitingen in Bavaria . In 2001 he moved to the German league for TSV Aindling . In 2004 he went to the Regionalliga Süd to the amateurs of TSV 1860 Munich , for whom he guarded the gate for a year. After another year at SpVgg Bayreuth in the German Regionalliga Süd, he moved to the Bundesliga club SV Ried in Austria. At the Riedern he was a substitute goalkeeper until the injury of the goalkeeper Hans-Peter Berger in December 2007. Since then, Gebauer has been number one in the Rieder goal. Gebauer made his Bundesliga debut a year earlier in the 2006/07 season in a 1-1 draw against FK Austria Wien on August 27, 2006. After the 2008/09 season he was voted the best goalkeeper in the Austrian Bundesliga. At the end of the 2010/11 season he won the Austrian Cup with SV Ried.

With Ried, he was relegated from the Bundesliga in 2017. For the 2018/19 season he moved to Bundesliga club LASK , with whom he received a contract that ran until June 2021.
