Thomas Mehlhorn (* 1969 in Dresden , Dresden district , GDR ) is a German actor .

Life

Thomas Mehlhorn completed his acting training from 1987 to 1991 at the “Hans Otto” theater school in Leipzig .

He had his first permanent engagement at the Schauspiel Frankfurt (1991–1993), where he a. a. played Lorenzo in Shakespeare's play The Merchant of Venice . From 1993 to 1998 he was permanently engaged at the Deutsches Schauspielhaus in Hamburg , where he worked a. a. with the directors Elke Lang , Johann Kresnik , Leander Haußmann , Christoph Schlingensief and Dimiter Gotscheff .

For the 1998/99 season he was committed to the Hanover Theater . This was followed by engagements at the Deutsches Schauspielhaus (1999–2000 as a guest, including collaboration with Anselm Weber and Jossi Wieler ), at the Berliner Ensemble (2000–2001), at the TAT in Frankfurt am Main (2002–2003), at the State Theater in Hanover (2003 season / 04, among others as Rentier Krüger in Der Biberpelz , director: Thomas Bischoff ), at the Nationaltheater Mannheim (2005) and at the Schauspiel Köln (2006).

From 2006 to 2009 he was firmly committed to Barbara Mundel's directorship as an actor at the Freiburg Theater . There he played u. a. Iago in Othello , Rudolphe in Madame Bovary , Hagen in Die Nibelungen , Reinhold in Berlin Alexanderplatz and Caliban in Der Sturm .

From 2009 to 2014 he was a permanent member of the Hannover Theater, with roles such as Trofimov in Der Kirschgarten (2009-2010; director: Lars-Ole Walburg ), Kreon in Antigone (2010-2013; director: Josip Galindo), captain in Woyzeck (2010–2013; director: Heike M. Goetze ), Major Tellheim in Minna von Barnhelm (2013–2014, director: Hasko Weber ) and Maximilian von Moor in Die Räuber (2013–2014, director: Ruth Messing).

From the 2014/15 season he appeared regularly as a guest at the Freiburg Theater. He played there u. a. Walter Faber in a stage version of the Frisch novel Homo faber (2014–2015), Trigorin in Die Möwe (2015–2016) and Mitch in Endstation Sehnsucht (2017, director: Heike M. Goetze). In 2017 he made a guest appearance as Leicester in Maria Stuart at the Schauspielhaus Bochum .

Since the early 1990s, Mehlhorn has also been in front of the camera on film and television on a regular basis. He played the bouncer Silvio Moritz in the Police Call 110 episode Destroyed Hope (first broadcast: January 1991), who considers the girl Sabine, the main female character, to be his girlfriend. He was a partner of Maria Furtwängler in the TV crime thriller Die eightchte Todsünde: Gespensterjagd (2001) and acted as an episode actor in numerous television series. a. as tabloid journalist Peter Barth in Notruf Hafenkante (2015), as kidnapped IT specialist Holger Beckstein in Großstadtrevier (2017) and as judge Helmer in Die Kanzlei (2017).

Thomas Mehlhorn lives in Hamburg.
