Thomas Silberberger (born June 3, 1973 in Innsbruck ) is a former Austrian soccer player and current coach . He is currently training the Austrian Bundesliga club WSG Tirol (until 2019 WSG Wattens ).
Career
Career as a player
Thomas Silberberger began his career in the youth team at SV Wörgl . In the winter of the 1992/93 season he moved to FC Wacker Innsbruck , where he played in the U-21 team, he was too young for the combat team. It was only in autumn 1993 that he made it to the combat team of FC Tirol Innsbruck , which had taken over the federal license from FC Wacker Innsbruck. He returned to Wörgl in 1997 via the stations SC Kundl and GAK , with whom he was able to celebrate the championship title in the Regionalliga West and promotion to the 1st division in 1998. Thomas Silberberger stayed, apart from the 2000/01 , where he played for SV Austria Salzburg , until the license withdrawal in 2004/05 with his home club. After the Wörgler was transferred to the Tyrolean regional league, he joined FC Kufstein , where he ended his active career in 2007. At times he continued to act as a player-coach. In 2000 he was voted Player of the Year in the 1st Division by the coaches and presidents. In the same year he won the Bruno (VdF Union of Footballers) for the best player in the 1st division.
Career as a coach
From spring 2007 he was assistant coach at FC Kufstein. For the 2007/08 season he was the club's coach. This season he also achieved his best placement in the league with 2nd place. In 2010, 2012 and 2013 he won the Tyrolean Cup with the team. For the 2013/14 season he was coach of the WSG Wattens (since 2019 WSG Tirol ). He won the Tyrolean Cup with the Wattenern in 2014 with a 5-1 win against FC Kitzbühel . In 2014 and 2015 he took 2nd place in the Regionalliga West. In the 2015/16 season you could finally be first and move up to the first division .
In the 2018/19 season, Silberberger led the Wattener to the championship title in the 2nd division and rose with the club to the Bundesliga .
