Tibor Navracsics

Tibor Navracsics (born June 13, 1966 in Veszprém ) is a Hungarian politician of Fidesz - Hungarian Citizens' Union .

Life

Navracsics studied law, qualified as a judge and practiced as a lawyer until 1992. He then taught politics and sociology at a teacher training institution. 1997–2001 he taught and researched at Corvinus University Budapest , where he obtained a Ph.D. in political science. He then moved to the office of Prime Minister Viktor Orbán , where he headed the information department. Since 2010 Navracsics has been Minister of Administration and Justice in the Orbán II cabinet . He has also been the Hungarian Deputy Prime Minister since 2010. In public and European criticism, he stands for his judicial reform in Hungary. In 2014 he became EU Commissioner for Education, Culture, Youth and Sport. The EU Parliament had initially rejected him. The responsibility for civil rights was then withdrawn from his commissioner's office.
