Trent Michael Plaisted (born October 20, 1986 in Walnut Creek , California ) is an American basketball player . After studying in his home country, Plaisted was selected in the entry draft of the highest endowed professional league NBA , but never completed a mission there. Instead, he completed a professional career in Europe, where, after stints in Italy , Croatia , Lithuania , Ukraine , Turkey , France and Germany as well as a short interlude in Argentina, he has been playing in the Bundesliga again for Phoenix Hagen since the 2016/17 season . In Lithuania in 2011 with Žalgiris Kaunas and in France in 2015 with Limoges CSP, Plaisted won the national championship.

Career

After graduating from school in San Antonio , Plaisted went to study from Texas to Utah at Brigham Young University , where he played for the college team Cougars from 2004 in the Mountain West Conference (MWC) of the NCAA . After the Cougars twice the national NCAA finals had missed, they got Dave Rose a new coach who could bring them twice in the final of the MWC championship tournament, which, however, both against the Rebels of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas were lost . This went hand in hand with the qualification for the NCAA finals tournament, in which one lost in the first round in 2007 against the Musketeers of the Xavier University of Cincinnati and in 2008 against the Aggies of the Texas A & M University . As the penultimate pick of the Seattle SuperSonics franchise , Plaisted was selected in the 2008 NBA Draft in 46th position, which gave the rights to him in an exchange to the Detroit Pistons .

Plaisted, however, never completed a job for an NBA club, but went to the Italian Lega Basket Serie A to Angelico from Biella in autumn 2008 . While Plaisted's former teammate Lee Cummard's contract with German first division club ALBA Berlin was canceled before the start of the season, Plaisted suffered a spinal disc injury after two missions for Angelico, whose rehabilitation in his home country meant the end of the season for Plaisted. After the NBA Summer League 2009 for the Pistons Plaisted came back to Europe for the 2009/10 season and played for the Croatian runner-up from Zadar in the ABA league and in the European club competition Eurocup 2009/10 . In the latter, the team was eliminated after the first group stage due to the poorer direct comparison against Hapoel Jerusalem and in the Adriatic league it was only enough to place in the middle with no chance of reaching the final round. In the Croatian championship they lost again the final series in five games against defending champion KK Cibona from Zagreb . After the Pistons had given up their rights to Plaisted in a rather unusual move in the form of an exchange, Plaisted played in the NBA Summer League 2010 for the Chicago Bulls and the Philadelphia 76ers , where he got a follow-up contract for the pre-season.

After the termination of the contract in Philadelphia before the start of the season, Plaisted played in the 2010/11 season this time in the Croatian capital Zagreb for Cibona's local rivals KK Cedevita. In the ABA league, Cedevita had no prospect of reaching the final round, while in the Croatian championship they were well in the race. But in February 2011 Plaisted was signed by the Lithuanian champions Žalgiris from Kaunas for the rest of the season. With Žalgiris, Plaisted completed three more missions in the top-ranking European club competition Euroleague 2010/11 , in which the team was eliminated after the intermediate round of the 16 best teams. Plaisted won with Žalgiris, however, the Lithuanian double from the championship and cup competition as well as the title defense in the Baltic Basketball League . In the 2011/12 season Plaisted played in the Basketball Superliga Ukraine for the Cherkassky Mawpy club from Cherkassy . After a disappointing season, Plaisted moved to Türkiye Basketbol Ligi for Klub Petkim from Aliağa in January 2012 . The team made it into the play-offs for the championship, in which they were eliminated in the first round, for the first time since the first division promotion in 2008.

In the pre-season NBA 2012/13 Plaisted was under contract with the Los Angeles Clippers before they released him from his contract a week before the start of the season. Therefore Plaisted returned to Europe and played from December 2012 for the traditional club and former European champions "Cercle Saint-Pierre" from Limoges in France LNB Pro A . The first division returnee achieved relegation in fourth from bottom of the table. For the basketball Bundesliga 2013/14 Plaisted got an engagement with the German first division club ratiopharm from Ulm , with whom he also competed in a European club competition. In the 2013/14 Eurocup , Ulm reached the round of 16, which was lost to Hapoel Jerusalem, where Plaisted had already failed in his first Eurocup participation in 2009 with Zadar. The Beko BBL-Pokal 2014 was lost in the final in their own hall in a new edition of the previous year's final against defending champion Alba Berlin, against whom they were eliminated as sixth in the main round in the first play-off round for the championship.

For the LNB Pro A 2014/15 , Plaisted returned to Limoges, who had won the national championship the previous season. In the preliminary round of the Euroleague 2014/15 , the team achieved only two wins in ten games and lost, among other things, twice against the German runner-up Alba Berlin. In the group stage of the last 32 teams of the Eurocup 2014/15 Limoges was victorious and, in a direct comparison , tied with Foxtown Cantù , so that, similar to football, the general point ratio decided. Here the home defeat against the table top BK Chimki in the last group game was at least five points too high, so that Cantù the knockout. -Laps reached and Limoges was eliminated. As third in the table, the defending champion reached the play-offs for the French championship, in which the team initially suffered no defeat and only suffered their first defeat in the new edition of the previous year's final series against the main round first Strasbourg IG . Nevertheless, the club was able to defend the title in four games, which was Plaisted's second title win in Europe after the Lithuanian championship. In the summer of 2015, Plaisted signed a contract outside Europe in Argentina with Club La Unión from Formosa in the north on the border with Paraguay , for which the former Bundesliga player Winsome Frazier was also active at the time. Plaisted did not play in the Liga Nacional de Básquetbol , but instead moved back to Europe, where he signed a contract with the Lithuanian Eurocup participant Neptūnas from Klaipėda in December 2015 . Despite a home win against Alba Berlin, the team was eliminated in the second group stage of the last 32 teams in the 2015/16 Eurocup . In the Lithuanian championship of the LKL, however, after a narrow success in five games against Lietuvos rytas Vilnius in 2014, they moved into the final series again, in which, despite a clear home win with more than twenty points difference in the second game, all other games against defending champion Žalgiris Kaunas lost.

For the 2016/17 BBL season , Plaisted returned to the German basketball division and played for Phoenix from Hagen .
