The USS Dewey (DDG-105) is a destroyer in the United States Navy and belongs to the Arleigh Burke class . history

The construction of the destroyer was commissioned in 2002, the construction yard was Ingalls Shipbuilding . The keel of DDG-105 was laid on October 4, 2006, on January 26, 2008 the ship was launched and was christened. The Dewey's godmother was Deborah M. Mullen, wife of Admiral Michael Mullen , chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff . The christening is followed by the final equipment on the pier, followed by the shipyard test drives. In August 2009, the Navy took the ship, the commissioning took place on March 6, 2010 in Seal Beach, California.

The Dewey's first mission began at the end of 2011 : alongside the USS John C. Stennis (CVN-74) , it led the destroyer into the Indian Ocean and, from the beginning of 2012, into the Pacific region.

In May 2017, the Dewey was sent on patrol through the South China Sea. She was the first US warship since US President Donald Trump took office to cross the zones claimed by the PRC as territorial waters .
