The USS Michael Murphy (DDG-112) is a United States Navy destroyer belonging to the Arleigh Burke class and the 62nd unit in that class. The ship is according to Lt. Michael P. Murphy , a United States Navy Seal who was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor in October 2007 .
history
The ship DDG-112 was commissioned in 2002. In June 2010, Bath Iron Works laid the keel of the destroyer. On May 7, 2011, the birthday of namesake Michael P. Murphy, the destroyer was baptized by Murphy's mother Maureen Murphy. The Michael Murphy was launched the following day.
The commissioning of the Michael Murphy took place on October 6, 2012 in New York .
