The USS William P. Lawrence (DDG-110) is a destroyer in the United States Navy and belongs to the Arleigh Burke class . It is named after Vice Admiral William P. Lawrence .
history
DDG-110 was commissioned in 2002. In 2008 Ingalls Shipbuilding laid the ship on keel. After 14 months of construction, on December 15, 2009, the William P. Lawrence was launched. The ship was christened on April 17, 2010, godmothers were Lawrence's widow Diane and his daughters Laurie and Wendy . On February 23, 2011, the US Navy accepted delivery of the destroyer after successfully completing all test drives.
After its commissioning on June 4, 2011 in Mobile , the William P. Lawrence was stationed in San Diego .
