Ulanowice (German Ullersdorf ) is a village of the urban and rural municipality Otmuchów in the powiat Nyski in the Opole Voivodeship in Poland.

Geographical location

The street village Ulanowice is located in the southwest of the historical region of Upper Silesia . The place is about four kilometers northeast of the municipality seat Otmuchów , about ten kilometers west of the district town Nysa and about 66 kilometers southwest of the voivodeship capital Opole .

Ulanowice is located in the Nizina Śląska (Silesian Plain) within Dolina Nysy Kłodzkiej (Glatzer Neisse Valley) to Równina Grodkowska ( Grottkau Plain ).

In the work Liber fundationis episcopatus Vratislaviensis from the years 1295-1305, the place is first mentioned as Ylyanovitz . Other surviving mentions were 1368 Uliansdorf and 137 Uliansdorff .

After the First Silesian War in 1742, Ullersdorf and most of Silesia fell to Prussia . In 1768 a chapel was built in the village.

After the reorganization of the province of Silesia , the rural community of Ullersdorf belonged to the district of Grottkau in the administrative district of Opole from 1816 . In 1845 there was a castle, an outer works and 17 other houses in the village. In the same year 137 people lived in Ullersdorf, seven of them Protestants. In 1855, 133 people lived in Ullersdorf. In 1865 there was a Scholtisei in the village, eight gardeners, five cottages and six granny workers. The residents were schooled in Perschkenstein. In 1874 the district of Klein Mahlendorf was founded, which consisted of the rural communities of Bittendorf, Klein Mahlendorf, Klein Vorwerk, Laskowitz, Nitterwitz, Perschkenstein, Ullersdorf and Weidich and the manor districts of Bittendorf, Klein Mahlendorf, Klein Vorwerk, Nitterwitz and Ullersdorf. In 1885 Ullersdorf had 104 inhabitants.

In 1933 158 people lived in Ullersdorf and in 1939 137 people. Until the end of the war in 1945, the place belonged to the district of Grottkau .

As a result of the Second World War, Ullersdorf, like most of Silesia, fell under Polish administration in 1945 . It was subsequently renamed Ulanowice and joined the Silesian Voivodeship. The German population was largely expelled . In 1950 it was incorporated into the Opole Voivodeship. In 1999 the place came to the re-established Powiat Nyski . In 2006, 96 people lived in the village.

Attractions

  • The Ullersdorf Castle was the late 16th century in the style of Renaissance built. In the middle of the 18th century it was rebuilt in the Baroque style . The two-storey building with a steep hipped roof has a renaissance portal at the main portal. The castle is currently in a ruinous condition. The castle has been a listed building since 1964.
  • The directly adjacent landscape park was created in the 19th century. This has been a listed building since 1984.
  • The chapel was built around 1800 in the classical style. In 1966 this was placed under monument protection.
