Unín (German Unin , Hungarian Nagyúny - until 1907 Unin ) is a municipality in the west of Slovakia with a population of 1,223 (December 31, 2019) that the skalica district , a circle of kraj Trnavský heard and in the traditional landscape Záhorie lies.
geography
The municipality is located in the Chvojnická pahorkatina hill country away from the main roads. The 22.7 km² large municipal area is mostly covered by brown earth and brown forest soils and is used intensively for agriculture. The height varies from 215 m nm to 434 m nm (Zámčisko mountain). The center of the village lies at an altitude of 269 m nm and is 12 kilometers from Holíč and 18 kilometers from Skalica .
history
On the Zámčisko mountain there was a fortress in the older Bronze Age, which was used by the peoples of the Maďarovce culture , the tumulus culture and others up to the time of Great Moravia in the 9th century.
Unín itself was first mentioned in writing in a donation deed as Wny in 1392 , when the Holíč estate was donated to Stibor from Stiborice . In 1439 Unín was plundered by the Hussites, but it was still a heavily populated village in the Middle Ages. In 1554 the estate was divided between the Bakics and Czobor families, with the second owning the village. In 1663 a Turkish army looted the village.
In 1828 there are 213 houses and 1242 inhabitants. The inhabitants were employed in agriculture, viticulture and sheep breeding. The Emperor Franz Joseph I visited Unín in 1902 as part of an All-Hungarian military exercise.
The place in Neutra County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary until 1918 and then became part of Czechoslovakia or now Slovakia.
