Popudinské Močidľany is a municipality in the west of Slovakia with 942 inhabitants (December 31, 2019) that the skalica district of, a circle kraj Trnavský heard and in the traditional landscape Záhorie lies.
geography
The municipality is located on the northern edge of the Chvojnická pahorkatina hill country on both sides of the Chvojnica river , not far from the Czech border. The center of the village is at an altitude of 190 m nm and is nine kilometers from Skalica and 19 kilometers from Senica .
Neighboring municipalities are Prietržka in the north, Mokrý Háj in the northeast, Radošovce in the east, Dubovce in the southeast, Radimov in the south, briefly Holíč in the west and Trnovec in the northwest.
history
Today's community was created in 1958 through the merger of the places Popudiny (German: Poppodin ) and Močidľany (German: Motschidlen ).
Popudiny was first mentioned in writing in 1392 as Popudym and was part of the Branč Castle estate, later it was owned by Schossberg and Weißkirchen . In the 17th century the Habaners, known as ceramists, settled in the village. From 1730 to 1773 the village belonged to the Jesuits, then to the Habsburgs until serfdom was abolished. In 1828 there were 52 houses and 448 inhabitants. Historical Hungarian names are Popudin until 1892, then Szentistvánfalu and after 1907 Szentistvánfalva .
The first written mention of Močidľany comes from 1392 as Mochilan . The ownership structure was the same as with Popudiny. In 1828 there were 64 houses and 520 inhabitants who lived on agriculture and livestock. Historical Hungarian names are Mocsidlan until 1892, then Coborfalu and after 1907 Coborfalva .
Until 1918 the places in Neutra County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary and then came to Czechoslovakia, or now Slovakia.

According to the 2011 census, Popudinské Močidľany had 917 inhabitants, of whom 898 were Slovaks, four Czechs, one Magyar and one Pole each; one resident indicated a different ethnic group. 12 residents gave no information in this regard. 802 residents committed themselves to the Roman Catholic Church, 26 residents to the Evangelical Church AB, two residents each to the Jehovah's Witnesses and to the Evangelical Methodist Church and one resident each to the Brethren Church and the Greek Catholic Church. 42 residents had no denomination and the denomination of 41 residents was not determined.
