Oreské (Hungarian Kisdiós - until 1907 Oreszkó ) is a municipality in the west of Slovakia with 389 inhabitants (December 31, 2019) that the skalica district of, a circle kraj Trnavský heard and, in the traditional landscape Záhorie lies.

The Chvojnica near Oreské

The municipality is located in the middle of the Chvojnická pahorkatina hills on the left bank of the Chvojnica river . The municipal area is slightly hilly and has both wetland and brown soils as well as brown forest soils; Robinia forest grows south of Oreské . The highest point is the Holý vrch with 371  m nm. The town center is at an altitude of 245  m nm and is 10 kilometers from Senica and 14 kilometers from Skalica .

Neighboring municipalities are Radošovce in the west and north, Lopašov in the northeast, Častkov in the east, Rohov and Rybky in the southeast and Smrdáky in the south.

history

Church in Oreské

Oreské was first mentioned in writing in 1392 as Dyos and belonged to the estate of Holitsch . In 1452 the village had four portals . From 1749 to 1918 the Habsburgs were landowners. The main sources of income for the inhabitants were agriculture and fruit growing.

Until 1918, the place in Neutra County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary and then came to Czechoslovakia or now Slovakia.

According to the 2011 census, Oreské had 358 inhabitants, including 350 Slovaks and 5 Czechs. 3 residents gave no information in this regard. 339 residents supported the Roman Catholic Church and 1 inhabitant of the Reformed Church. 8 residents were without a denomination and the denomination was not determined for 10 residents.
