Koválovec (1927-1946 Slovak "Koválovec" - until the 19th century, "Malé Koválovce"; German Kleinkowallow , Hungarian Kiskovalló ) is a municipality in the west of Slovakia with 156 inhabitants (December 31, 2019) that the skalica district , belongs to a district of the Trnavský kraj and lies in the traditional Záhorie landscape .
geography
The municipality is located in the eastern part of the Chvojnická pahorkatina hills at the foot of the White Carpathian Mountains by the Koválovský brook . The center of the village is at an altitude of 254 m nm and is 13 kilometers from Holíč and Skalica and 17 kilometers from Senica .
Neighboring communities are Skalica in the north, Chropov in the east and Radošovce in the south and west.
history
Koválovec was first mentioned in writing in 1394 as Kiskowalov , at that time as part of the Branč Castle estate . In 1452 the village had a total of 15 portals . In 1554 vineyards are occupied; the first known seal from 1617 also refers to wine-growing tradition. In 1791 there was an uprising against agricultural regulations . In 1828 there were 49 houses and 344 inhabitants. In the 19th century, the Vietoris and Kuffner families owned goods in the village.
Until 1918, the place in Neutra County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary and then came to Czechoslovakia or now Slovakia.

According to the 2011 census, 151 people lived in Koválovec, including 136 Slovaks, 11 Moravians and 4 Czechs. 123 residents supported the Roman Catholic Church, 2 residents supported the Evangelical Church AB and 1 residents each supported the Baptists and the Greek Catholic Church; 1 resident confessed to another denomination. 8 residents were without a denomination and the denomination was not determined for 15 residents.
