Victor Leydet (politician)

Victor Leydet (born July 3, 1845 in Aix-en-Provence , † October 22, 1908 in Paris ) was a French politician. He was a member of the National Assembly from 1881 to 1897 and a member of the Senate from 1897 to 1908 .

Leydet made a career as an industrialist before entering the National Assembly in 1881. There he belonged to the radical Republicans. He was re-elected in the elections of 1885, 1889 and 1893. In 1897 he moved to the Senate for the Bouches-du-Rhône department , where he replaced the late Paul Challemel-Lacour . From 1900 to 1902 he was Secretary of the Senate. After his re-election in 1903, he was its vice-president from 1905 to 1906. Leydet died unexpectedly in 1908 while still serving in the Senate.
