Jean-Marie Bayol (born December 24, 1849 in Eyguières , † October 3, 1905 in Paris ) was a French politician. He was a member of the Senate from 1903 to 1905 .

Bayol studied medicine in Montpellier , was in the service of the French Navy from 1869 and received his doctorate in 1874. With the Navy, he often stayed in French West Africa and was there from 1881 on expeditions. In 1887 Bayol became governor of Guinea and in 1889 was appointed officer of the Legion of Honor . In the same year he was imprisoned in Abomey for several months as a result of a conflict with locals . In 1892 he was urged to resign from the post of governor and returned to France. In the Bouches-du-Rhône department , he was elected to the General Council in 1898 . In 1903 he succeeded in entering the Senate, where he joined the moderate left. He died in 1905 before his mandate expired.
