Jacques Siffre

Jacques Siffre (born April 4, 1937 in Foix ) is a French politician of the Parti socialiste .

Local and regional politics

Jacques Siffre worked for a long time in regional politics in the Bouches-du-Rhône department. He was president of the municipal association Agglomération nouvelle Ouest Provence and represented in the general council of the département. From 1977 to 1998 he was mayor of Istres . Between 1986 and 1988 he was a brief member of the National Assembly .

The ophthalmologist inherited his party friend Henri d'Attilio on December 24, 2004 in the Senate as Senator for the Bouches-du-Rhône department. After the end of his mandate on September 30, 2008, he did not run for re-election. In the Senate he was a member of the Committee on Cultural Affairs.
