Jacques Rastoin

Jacques Rastoin (born February 19, 1900 in Marseille , † June 17, 1979 in Gignac-la-Nerthe , Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur ) was a French politician . He was a member of the Senate from 1966 to 1971 .

Rastoin came from a respected family. His father Émile was a manufacturer of soaps and oils and as such sat before the Chamber of Commerce of Marseille and was also deputy mayor of the city. After graduating from high school, Jacques worked in the same industry as his father. He got rich in this way and was active in various industrial organizations. In the city council elections in 1953, Rastoin stood for the CNIP under the leadership of Henry Bergasse . He moved into the city council and became deputy to the socialist mayor Gaston Defferre , which he remained until 1977. After two unsuccessful candidacies in 1959 and 1962, he was elected to the Senate in 1966. However, he was not re-elected in the subsequent elections in 1971. Rastoin died in 1979. He was an officer in the Legion of Honor .
