Frédéric Monier

Frédéric Monier (born April 24, 1842 in Eyguières , Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur , † April 13, 1908 there ) was a French industrialist and politician. He was a member of the Senate from 1894 to 1903 .

Monier made a career as an industrialist in soap production. As such, he was a member of the Marseille Chamber of Commerce . He was also active in politics as a part-time job and first became a member of the municipal council in his home town of Eyguières. In 1870 he moved to the General Council of the Bouches-du-Rhône department . He took part in the Franco-German War as a soldier . In 1877 he was elected Mayor of Eyguières and a little later also President of the General Council. Monier was elected to the Senate in 1894, but did not stand for re-election in 1903. He died five years later. Monier was a Knight of the Legion of Honor , Grand Officer of the Nischan el Iftikhar and holder of the Ordre des Palmes Académiques .
