history

School history tradition

The school history tradition of Altomünster is probably one of the oldest in the Dachau district. There are indications that when the monastery was founded in the Carolingian period in the early Middle Ages, a "Schola Regia" based on the Franconian model was created there. In the year 1378 an early mass benefice is mentioned, which obliged the beneficiaries to give lessons. After 1612 a secular schoolmaster appointed by the women's convention , who was also a market clerk , provided the school service. After general compulsory schooling became more and more prevalent from 1803 ( Montgelas declared the schools to be state institutions), the market clerk teachers were replaced by a teacher Johann Georg Zeitlmayr, who had already been trained in a teacher training college, after the Birgitten monastery had been secularized in 1802 ; Birgitten monks provided the second school post for free until 1826.

When the general compulsory schooling gradually began to prevail, the market bought the Stegmair'sche monastery brewery , which was converted and inaugurated as a new schoolhouse on October 23, 1826 by Pastor Ignatius Nerb . Above the entrance of the house that still exists today, which served as a school with interruptions until 1976, there is a plaque with a decorative inscription: “The most precious thing in the community is a well-educated youth - 1826”. In 1912 the community built a new schoolhouse with four halls. After the Second World War , almost 400  students had to be accommodated there, due to the influx of displaced persons . For more than a decade, shift instruction had to be given in large classes . It was not until 1959 that a longitudinal wing was added so that each class had a room.

Altomünster School Association

In the course of the school reform in 1966, the two-part elementary school Oberzeitlbach was incorporated into the newly formed Altomünster School Association , in 1969 Pipinsried, Randelsried , Hohenzell and Wollomoos were added, and finally the upper school from Tandern and Hilgertshausen from the 7th grade. Some classes had to be relocated to the former village schools in Pipinsried and Oberzeitlbach, and the old school from 1826 was even reactivated for subject-specific lessons. In 1969 Nikolaus Wagner from Klingen , a committed educator , passionate organist and choir director, became rector .

As a result of the emergency described, the school association that had grown up under Mayor Anton Hofberger decided to build a new school building on the northeastern edge of the town. Construction began in September 1974, in 1976, most of the students and teachers moved in, and on October 8, 1977 - after the double gym was completed - Government School Director Greska, District Administrator Christmann, the school councils Angerpointner and Schneid and Mayor Werner Hofberger handed over the new house to Rector Waltraud Werner Hofberger .

The school complex was planned with 18  classrooms , five well-equipped specialist rooms and the necessary administrative and ancillary rooms. Together with the sports hall, the total costs amounted to 8.45 million DM. At that time, no one could foresee that the school planned for 18 classes would be bursting at the seams again after ten years. In 1977/78 there were 500 pupils to be taught, within a few years the number of pupils rose sharply again, mainly due to immigration to the new development areas of the market and its outer communities.

After a lengthy approval process, the school association, chaired by Mayor Konrad Wagner, was able to commission the construction work for the necessary extension in 1995. With the annex, which cost around four million marks, the school now had four additional classrooms, a computer room and specialist rooms for handicrafts , textile work and drawing . At the same time as this expansion, the gym roof and the schoolhouse flat roofs were renovated, and the rectorate, secretariat and teachers' room were considerably enlarged. End of April 1997 began the construction work "second breaks yard".

The increasing number of pupils forced the school association to think about an additional extension in mid-1998. The decision was made to build a so-called “ lightweight construction ” on the roof of the caretaker's apartment and the entrance area. For around DM 1 million, the school received not only three more classrooms and specialist rooms, but also a visual enhancement of the front view through the “airy” extension with its round “ porthole windows”. At the beginning of the 2004/2005 school year, a common room, two IT rooms , a library and a total of twelve specialist and side rooms were available for the 609 students .

Today, the former caretaker's apartment with a small annex houses the Altomünster School Support Association and the Altomünster primary and secondary school with lunchtime, homework and all-day care.

In the following years almost all classrooms were refurbished and renovated, and a modern teaching kitchen was installed during the 2011 summer vacation. The new cafeteria with around 100 places for our all-day students, which was decided by the school association meeting in March 2010, was inaugurated at the beginning of the 2010/11 school year.

Finally, a significant part of the around two million euros from the economic stimulus package II and the budget for the renovation measures (including energy-efficient renovation ) in the school complex flowed into the gym, which, with a new spring floor with underfloor heating and renovated sanitary facilities, was not only available to the students, but also to the school offers clubs excellent training opportunities. The roof renovation of the gym, which was completed in autumn 2010, was completed by the environmentally friendly solar system , which has so far produced 7.9170  kWh of electricity and saved 55,500 kg [[CO 2 ]] (as of December 2011).

Changes to school law and school organization must also be recorded in the chronicle. All-day classes have been set up since the 2008/09 school year and are continuously being expanded.

In the winter of 2010/11, film recordings were made at the Altomünster elementary school for the movie As Santa Claus fell from the sky, based on the work of the same name by Cornelia Funke .

Middle School Association

The introduction of the Bavarian middle school has a "resolution" of the elementary school Altomünster ( primary and secondary school requires): Since 1 August 2011, the primary school Altomuenster and middle school Altomuenster work independently, but under a roof and a school board for the children and youth of Marktes Altomünster, the school association with Hilgertshausen-Tandern and the new middle school association Altomünster, Erdweg , Hebertshausen and Markt Indersdorf . The name of the school is now "Altomünster Elementary and Middle School" .

Comenius partner school

The Altomünster elementary and middle school was a Comenius partner school from October 2011 to 2013 . The “Primary School” in Crook ( England ) and the “école primaire” in Flesselles ( France ) were declared school partners . "Healthy Active Citizens Across Europe" was chosen as the topic. This applies to the life of the healthy active citizen in the communities with their differences and similarities in everyday school life, in leisure activities, in daily routines, but also in family life, eating habits and the sporting preferences and offers in the home communities. During the partnership, European togetherness was lived with the partners from Crook and Flesselles in numerous student projects and frequent teacher exchanges.

Gaudnek Gallery

Gaudnek gallery at school

Since 1996 the southern stairwell of the elementary school has housed a gallery by Pop Art artist Walter Gaudnek . The permanent exhibition of the "Bohemian-Bavarian American", as the artist calls himself, is not only a visual asset for the school, but also fulfills the obligation imposed on public buildings: art in buildings .
