The Waterways and Shipping Office Koblenz (WSA Koblenz) was a waterways and shipping office in Germany. It belonged to the service area of the General Directorate for Waterways and Shipping , formerly the Waterways and Shipping Directorate Southwest .
The authority was founded in Koblenz in 1949 . By merging the waterways and shipping authorities in Koblenz, Trier and Saarbrücken , it was integrated into the new Mosel-Saar-Lahn waterways and shipping office on June 13, 2019 .
Area of responsibility
The Koblenz Waterways and Shipping Office was responsible for the Moselle federal waterways from the confluence with the Rhine in Koblenz to Kinheim (border to the official area of the WSA Trier) and the part of the Lahn classified as a federal waterway from the Badenburg weir near Gießen to Lahnstein shortly before the confluence in the river Rhine.
Area of responsibility
The tasks of the Waterways and Shipping Office Koblenz included:
- Maintenance of federal waterways in the official area
- Operation and maintenance of structures, e.g. B. locks , weirs and bridges
- Extension and new construction
- Maintenance and operation of the navigation signs
- Measurement of water levels
- Takeover of electricity and shipping police tasks.

- The outskirts of Brodenbach , responsible for the Moselle from its confluence with the Rhine (Moselle km 0.0) to the underwater area of the Müden lock (Moselle km 36.7)
- The outskirts of Cochem , responsible for the Moselle from the underwater of the Müden lock (Moselle km 36.7) to Bremm (Moselle km 76.4).
- The outskirts of Bullay , responsible for the Moselle from Bremm (Moselle km 76.4) to the bridge in Kinheim (Moselle km 115.6).
- The Koblenz building yard, especially for maintenance and repair work on ships and facilities of the WSA Koblenz and Bingen . The building yard has a slipway that can be used to get watercraft from the two departments out of the water.
