Neureut is the northernmost district of Karlsruhe . The former largest rural community in Baden-Württemberg (today around 18,500 inhabitants) was forcibly incorporated on February 14, 1975.

The name Neureut is derived from "New clearing", as the forest was cleared at this point for the construction of the settlement.

history

  • Founded in 1260 by Margrave Rudolf I.
  • 1699 Foundation of the municipality of Welschneureut by Margrave Friedrich Magnus to take in religious refugees from the south of France (often referred to as Waldensians ; in fact, they were Huguenots ). In contrast to this, the village since then was now called Teutschneureut.
  • 1913 Establishment of a sieve sewage treatment plant , since then expanded to a sewage treatment plant for the whole of Karlsruhe
  • 1914 receives Neureut electricity supply by the major food production for the front, which by the matzo factory Strauss took place
  • 1921 Start of construction on the garden settlement, later on the Heidesiedlung, on the border to Karlsruhe
  • 1928 the first houses in the Kirchfeldsiedlung are built on Gildestrasse
  • 1935 Incorporation of the municipality of Welschneureut, renaming of the united municipality to "Neureut (Baden)"
  • 1943 Severe damage by the American Air Force
  • 1949 The Kirchfeldstraße settlement on a former Exerzierplatz to Displaced from Bohemia , Moravian and the Sudetenland take
  • 1959 Construction of the American barracks
  • 1960 Construction of the General Fahnert barracks for the German armed forces
  • 1964 the indoor swimming pool Neureut is opened
  • In 1975, despite strong resistance from the population, incorporated into the city of Karlsruhe ; the Hardtbahn (today S1 / S11) opens. The year before, the then independent municipality of Neureut had filed a lawsuit against the incorporation, which was rejected and thus implemented.
  • 1977 The Badnerlandhalle is completed and inaugurated. It is located on Neureuter Platz, which was to become a “New Center” on the eastern edge of the old town.
  • 1985 The Neureut indoor swimming pool is renamed Adolf-Ehrmann-Bad after reconstruction and renovation
  • 1994 the industrial area Sandfeld is released for building; it connects the separate districts
  • 1995 the Americans move out of Neureut, the northern part of the city connects Neureut with the city center
  • 1999 Welschneureut turns 300
  • 2006 start of construction of Kirchfeld-Nord on the site of the former US barracks; Opening of tram line 3 to Neureut Heide
  • 2007 Start of construction of the Neureut-Nord crossbar
  • 2009 Release of the cross brace on April 6th
