Wendlingen am Neckar is a protected landscape area in the Esslingen district in Baden-Württemberg .

Location and description

The approximately 227 hectare landscape protection area consists of six sub-areas. It lies north and east of the urban area of ​​Wendlingen. It was created by ordinance of the Esslingen District Office of November 25, 1992. At the same time, the ordinance of the former Nürtingen District Office for the protection of parts of the landscape and parts of the landscape in the Nürtingen district of October 22, 1942 expired insofar as it affected the scope of the new Protected Area Ordinance. It belongs to the natural areas 101 - Middle Alb foreland and 106 - Filder within the natural spatial main unit 10 - Swabian Keuper-Lias-Land .

Protection purpose

According to the Protected Area Ordinance, the main protection purpose is the preservation of meadows, orchards, hedges, field and brook trees and streams. These lively landscape elements with their high ecological value are important living and retreat areas for many animal and plant species, some of which are threatened. On the marking of the town of Wendlingen am Neckar, which is otherwise predominantly characterized by intensive settlement use or agricultural use, they are of paramount importance for the efficiency of the natural balance and, moreover, convey closeness to nature to people who are looking for relaxation and are highly experience value. The preservation of these areas as a habitat for plants and animals and as a recreational area for humans is of general interest and should be secured by placing them under protection. Further goals of the protection are u. a. the prevention of the emergence of further small buildings and enclosures and the preservation of the green turning point between the markings Wendlingen and Bodelshofen.
