Location and description

The conservation area consists of two parts and is located north and northeast of Wolfschlugen on the edge of the Sauhag forest area . The protected area was created by ordinance of March 1st, 1989. It belongs to the natural area 106- Filder within the natural spatial main unit 10- Swabian Keuper-Lias-Land .

Protection purpose

According to the Protected Area Ordinance, the main protection purpose is the maintenance of the transition areas to the forest areas of the Sauhag as well as the meadows and fruit trees. The numerous border and transition areas such as forest fringes and grass paths with Wegrain societies form very valuable natural habitats for numerous animal and plant species. The orchards with their particularly valuable stands of trees are, in addition to the landscape-defining element, of great importance as a recreational area for the general public. The extensive meadow areas provide a habitat for numerous, partially protected plant species, which are acutely threatened by the increasing agricultural use of the parcels and whose protective purpose is therefore of particular importance.
